What does VVoBB stand for?
VVoBB stands for Voice and Video Over Broadband. The terms VVoBB
and VVoIP are used interchangeably.
Whether I should be existing BSNL customer for
VVoBB Service?
Any BSNL Landline subscriber having a Broadband connection can
apply for VVoBB phone.
If broadband facility is not available, you can apply
for Broadband as well as VVOBB.
How can I apply for a VVoBB Service?
You can apply through nearest BSNL Customer Service Centre or you
can submit your request on our
call centre by dialing 18002330999. Our agent
will visit your premises for collecting your application form.
How does VVoBB Service work?
VVoBB uses ‘Voice over Internet Protocol’ (VoIP) technology . It’s
a great new way to make and receive phone
calls using your broadband connection
instead of your analog phone line. BSNL converts your phone calls into
data
packets and transmits them through your high-speed broadband connection via
exclusive Private
Virtual Circuit (PVC) created for managed high quality video
calls. When Video and Voice comes to the other end,
it is just like a face a
face call.
What all I need for using BSNL VVoBB Service?
To use VVoBB Service, BSNL landline and Broadband connection is a
pre-requisite. You just need to avail
VVoBB facility and connect VVoBB Phone on
free Ethernet port of broadband modem. Alternatively
you can use SISPhone (it
is a software to be loaded on your PC/Laptop).

Yes, you just plug VVoBB phone in the spare Ethernet port of your
existing broadband modem and make Video or
Voice calls to any BSNL VVoBB
customer. With BSNL VVoBB service you can also call International
landline/mobile numbers at very special rates.
Is BSNL
VVoBB more economical service compared to other services?
Yes, BSNL VVoBB service is more economical than other VoIP
services. This is because video generates heavy
data, and in BSNL VVoBB,
traffic generated due to video calls is not accounted in your
landline/broadband bill.
You pay for the calls on per minute basis only.
What
additional features come with BSNL VVoBB Service?
BSNL VVoBB service supports all Class 5 features like Call
Forward, Call Hold and retrieve,Music on hold, and CLIP.
Does
simultaneous Internet browsing affect VVoBB quality?
No. You get exclusive high bandwidth (through a virtual circuit)
optimised for video calling in addition to
your existing normal broadband
bandwidth.
Can I
use my existing telephone adaptor or IP Phone?
Yes, you can use your existing telephone adaptor or IP Phone with
BSNL VVoBB Service if you need to make/receive
only Voice calls.
Does
computer need to be always powered ON for running VVoBB service?
In case you are using Video Phone, computer is not required for
VVoBB. But in case of SISPhone computer
needs to be powered ON to receive the
calls.
How
much bandwidth do a Video / Voice call use in VVoBB?
BSNL VVOBB service is currently using efficient codecs which gives
optimum video quality, while consuming less
than 300 Kbps bandwidth in upload
as well as download side. However, this bandwidth is not consumed
from your
existing broadband.
Does
the bandwidth used while making VVoBB calls add to my Broadband Bill?
The MB usage of VVoBB service is not charged to your Broadband
bill.
Who will send the bill for BSNL VVoBB Service? Whom do I make payments to BSNL VVoBB
Service?
Your VVoBB charges will be added in your landline/broadband bill
and delivered to you along with landline bill.

Do we
need BSNL VVoBB service at both ends - calling party and called party?
Yes, to make VVoBB calls in India, you need BSNL VVoBB service at
both the ends.
Do I
get another phone number with BSNL VVoBB service?
When you sign up BSNL VVoBB Service, you are given an URI (12
digit SIP ID number) You will also keep
your existing landline number.
Is my
BSNL VVoBB number listed in the telephone directory?
Your BSNL VVoBB is currently not listed in the telephone
directory.
Can I
use BSNL VVoBB service, if my computer/IP phone is behind a firewall?
Yes, you can use the VVoBB services behind the firewall by
allowing the UDP traffic.
If I
cancel my BSNL Broadband service, will this automatically end my BSNL VVoBB
service?
Closing your BSNL Broadband Account will automatically cancel your
BSNL VVoBB service.
Are
emergency service calls available with BSNL VVoBB Service?
Access to Emergency Services from VVoBB phone is currently not
provided.
Are
calls made through BSNL VVoBB secure?
Yes, Calls made through BSNL VVoBB are secure, as traffic flows in
the separate PVC network.
How
good is the voice quality?
Voice clarity is much better than a mobile phone and it’s unlikely
either you or called party will notice the
difference from normal phone line.
Variations in Call Quality may occur with varying international bandwidth
conditions. You can avail HD phones for superior call quality.
How I
contact your support centre?
To contact our Support centre you can dial 12345 through your BSNL
VVoBB phone or you can
dial 18002330999(Toll free number) from your landline/
mobile.
Can the
calls to my existing BSNL landline number be diverted to BSNL service?
No, you cannot transfer the BSNL landline number to BSNL VVoBB
service.
Is
there is any difference in call made from SIP to foreign country between
landline & mobile?
Yes, some countries have difference in call rates between landline
& mobile.
How do
I set up my BSNL VVoBB service on my ADSL Broadband modem?
When you Subscribe for VVoBB services, our representative will
visit your premises and configure the
modem for its use for VVoBB services.
