Faq on BSNL Free Roaming Offer

1. From which date BSNL free roaming offer will be effective?
BSNL Roaming Free Offer (free incoming voice call facility while in national roaming) has become effective from 15.06.2015.

2.Whether it is applicable for both Prepaid and Postpaid Mobile users?
Yes, BSNL Free Roaming will be available for all Prepaid and Postpaid customers.

3.Whether Free Roaming is applicable across India, including Delhi & Mumbai (service areas of MTNL)?
It is applicable across all over India including Mumbai & Delhi (service areas of MTNL).

4. Whether outgoing call charges in roaming is subject to the ceiling prescribed by TRAI?
Yes

5. What will be the outgoing call charges in Roaming?
Irrespective of whether subscriber has per minute plan or per second plan while roaming :all outgoing call charges will be as per the ceiling provided by TRAI i.e. the outgoing local calls are @ 80 p/ minute and STD calls are @ Rs 1.15 / minute.

6. Whether Voice STVs workin Free Roaming across India?
No, Voice/ISD STVs do not work in free roaming

7. Whether SMS/Data STVs work in Free Roaming across India?
Yes, SMS/Data STVs work in Free Roaming across India

8.What are data charges during free roaming across India?
The data charges are same for both Home LSA and roaming. In Prepaid services the free data usage allowed in the Data STV will be applicable and data charges after free usage will be 2p/10KB and in Postpaid Services the free data allowed in Add on pack will be applicable and data charges after free usage will be 1p/10KB.

9. Whether customers have to recharge with any Special Tariff Voucher / Plan to avail Free Roaming?
No, Mobile Customers need not recharge with any BSNL Roam Free STV. Free roaming has been provided to our esteemed customers Free of cost (without any additional charge) for a period of one year. 

10. Whether existing Roaming Free STVs / Plans will be available after 15.06.2015 ?
No. As there is no need so all existing roaming free STVs and RTP plan has been withdrawn w.e.f. 15-6-2015.

11. Whether a customer already recharged with Roaming STV having certain validity, and after discontinuing roaming STVs from 15.06.2015, he is eligible for Free Roaming or Not.
Yes, he is eligible for Free Roaming.

BSNL Tele- Education service

What is tele-education service?
BSNL provides Tele-education service through tie-ups with various service/ tele-education content providers. The service/ tele-education content provider has tie-ups with various institutes and from there live lectures(audio + video) will be streamed to your PC through BSNL Broadband Connection.
Who can take Tele-education service?
If you are not a BSNL Broadband customer then you first take a BSNL Broadband connection. To take a BSNLBroadband connection contact nearest BSNL office or dial Toll free 1800 424 1600.
How can I subscribe to Tele-education service?
Tele-education service provider will issue advertisements and inform procedure to register for a particular course. You may also visit the web site www.education2home.in for further information.
How much shall I be charged for Tele-education service?
There shall be two types of charges for Tele-education service: Course fee: It will be charged by Tele-education content provider. BSNL has no part to play in collection of this fee. BSNL does not own any responsibility for this amount. This is purely between Tele-education content provider, Institute and you. Tele-education Charges:BSNL will charge you for the Tele-education bandwidth usage. BSNL has come out with a special tariff package for the Tele-education. BSNL has kept a very minimal charges for bandwidth usage for Tele-education service. The charging will be flat monthly billing, depending on the Tele-education course subscribed. There could be different fee for a course based on category of the course. The category of the course will be decided based on the number of hours per month prescribed in that course.
How do I save money by using tele-education service?
Students usually have to go to other cities/ places to pursue some courses. In such cases Tele-education will save even the boarding and lodging expenditure for a student. When a student goes for tuition class then also he has to spend money as well as time in traveling, that cost will also be saved if you subscribe to tele-education service.
What are the advantages of Tele-education service?
Tele-education service has been tailored in such a way so that students are benefited. With this service students can not only save money and time they can also flexibility of time if they are working executives. Housewives can also subscribe to the courses of their interest. In addition to other courses like BA, MBA etc. computer, cookery courses etc are also available.
Shall I get a separate bill for tele-education service?
No, the charges for tele-education service as per the category of the course shall be added in your telephone/ broadband bill.
How long shall it take to start tele-education service at my place?
If you are already a BSNL Broadband customer then it will take about 4 days to start tele-education service on your broadband connection. However you need to register for a particular course with the Tele-education service provider. If you are not a BSNL Broadband customer then please book for a broadband connection.
Can I surf internet while taking lecture through tele-education?
You can not surf internet while taking lecture through tele-education.

BSNL Apps BSNL's Application Store Service

What is the BSNL Apps ?
The BSNL Apps is a one stop shop for all BSNL Mobile (2G/2.5G/3G) customers to purchase and download applications for use on their handsets. An application is a software which you can download onto your handset for personal use e.g. Calorie Calculator etc.
What is the advantage of using or downloading applications from BSNL Apps ?
The BSNL Apps provides you thousands of applications, utilities, games and themes. A wide-array of applications is available on the BSNL Apps & Applications are updated on a regular basis.
Is this service available for all BSNL Customers?
Yes, this service is for both Pre-paid and Post-paid BSNL mobile subscribers ‘having GPRS facility’.
How can I Access the BSNL Apps ?
You should have GPRS facility activated on your mobile and you need to visit BSNL Live WAP Portal. A “BSNL Apps ��? icon is available on the BSNL Live Home page for you to access the various applications.
How do I find the file size of an application which I am interested in downloading?
File sizes are listed on each application's page, near the Buy/Download button.
Will the applications available on BSNL Apps site be compatible to my handset?
Only those applications that are compatible to your handset are displayed when you browse through the BSNL Apps .
What are the charges for browsing and downloading from BSNL Apps ?
The browsing & downloading of content / application will be as per your data plan and you would be charged for the content only when you download a particular application on your handset. For browsing you will be charged separately and for download you would be charged only when you download a particular application on your handset. The charges vary by application. These charges are displayed before you actually download. The following charging models are currently used:
a. Free download
b. One-time payment – you are charged one time prior to download.
c. Subscription payment – can be per month, per week or per day. Per month model gives you an initial 30 day access to the application with automatic 30 day renewals till you cancel. Similarly per week gives you 7 day access and per day gives you 24 hour access.
d. Data charges for browsing/Downloading/network-aware apps are extra & as per Data plan opted by you.
Where can I find a list of my purchased applications?
To see your purchased applications, click My Purchases link on the BSNL Apps homepage.
How can I see what purchases I made and what active subscriptions I have?
Click on My Purchases link on BSNL Apps to see the list of purchases. If the application is a subscription application then you will see when the subscription is activated till and what the renewal period is (i.e. monthly, weekly or daily).
Are there any regional applications available on BSNL Apps ?
Yes, there are plenty of regional applications available on BSNL Apps for our regional customers.
When I am in Roaming, can I use BSNL Apps ?
Yes you can use BSNL Apps when you are in roaming.
I just purchased an application. How do I install it on my handset?
On selecting the download option, all applications would get installed automatically on your handset. Some handsets may prompt you to confirm whether you want to download and install the application.
On downloading an application where does this get saved on my handset?
This is a handset Feature. Some handsets may prompt you to define where you would want the application to be saved. In case you have already made some settings the application may download itself on to the preferred location in your Handset.
How do I remove an application from my handset?
The application would be saved as an Icon on your preferred location where it has been saved. You would need to click on the icon and select the delete or remove menu. In case you do not get these options directly you might need to delete the application through Mobile desktop Manager which comes bundled with your handset.
I downloaded the application but cannot find it on my handset. What do I do?
If you have a Nokia handset, please look for the app in Menu > Applications > My Own. For other handsets please look in the Games or Applications folder. Otherwise, please try the Search function on the handset.
I am not able to download an application though my account has been charged. What should I do?
If the download process has not completed due to any reason you can visit the BSNL Apps Home Page again and click on the ‘My Purchases’ link to re-download another 2nd time without any extra charges for the application.
I tried to download an application. The process started but then froze in between. What should I do?
You should check your network connectivity and try again. You could also visit the Apps Home Page again and Click on the ‘My Purchase’ link to re-download again without any extra charges.
I am trying to download an application but nothing seems to happen?
In all probability this would be a handset related issue. Some basic checks would need to be done to ensure that your Handset is capable to download the applications. • To check that there is enough memory on your handset. • Time and date should be correctly configured • Clear the cache memory on your handset. We would request you to download the applications again. In case you are still not able to download the application please contact our BSNL customer care.
I am getting the following errors when I am trying to download the application. What should I do?

In all probability this would be a handset related issue. How do I raise a Service Request?

How do I cancel my subscription for an application?
You can cancel an application subscription in one of the following ways: 1. You will receive a subscription renewal reminder text message. Click on the link in the message to cancel your subscription. 2. Go to My Purchases link on BSNL Apps , find the application you want to cancel and click ‘Cancel’. 3. Call BSNL Customer care.
What happens when I cancel my subscription for an application?
There will be no further charges on your account for the application. You will have access to the application till the end of the current access period. E.g. if you canceled on the 15th day of a monthly subscription then you will have access to the application till the 30th day.
How can I use BSNL Apps ?
Steps to use BSNL Apps : 1.Click “BSNL Apps ��? icon on the BSNL Live home page. 2.On the BSNL Apps home page select from the menu of applications. 3.On selecting a specific category from the menu you would then be presented a list of available applications which you can download under that category. 4.On selecting any specific application you would then be presented with the details of the application along with the price. 5.Some applications are available for Free and would display only a “Download��? option with Zero price point. 6.You would then need to click/select the Buy or Download; the application would begin to download on your mobile. 7.The application will install on your handset. After the install is complete, you will see the option to 'Start Now?' depending on your handset. 8.If you select 'Yes' the application will start. 9.If you select 'No' you will be back to the BSNL Apps Receipt page. Here you can click on “BSNL Apps " link to go back to the BSNL Apps home page.

been introduced right from the Corporate Office to Telecom circles /SSA levels. The
operator claims that now Circle Level and Corporate Level team will monitor all the
complaints to resolve the issue within a specific time-frame.
How to use BSNL Online Complaint Portal / Public Grievances (PG) System :
1. First you need to Book you complaints at BSNL have Toll Free Number
198, 1500, 1503, 1504 & 12727 which can be accessed from any BSNL phone toll free.

2. If your problem is Not Resolved within satisfactory Time Period or BSNL Staff/Officials
are not resolving the problem then there is way to bring your problem to higher level by
registering complains at BSNL Public Grievances (PG) Complaints Website

BSNL Subscriber can register the Online complains on website :

Customer Detail, Contact No (Must) on which BSNL Authority will contact you. Mention

BSNL Web Co-location Services

BSNL provides Internet services to the customers located in about 450 locations. Web Co-location is an easy and cost effective solution to house a company's powerful infrastructure without losing the administrative control on the equipments. Web Co-location eliminates much of the Infrastructure costs as well as the maintenance cost of such equipments apart from avoiding the last mile problems. Web Co-location enables customer's equipment/ Servers to be treated as a part and parcel of the ISP network enjoying all the facilities as the ISP servers. Web Co-location provides the infrastructure at a nominal value keeping the customer comfortable and focussed in maintaining the Applications /Services of the company. Apart from enjoying the bandwidth and facilities, the customer retains control over his equipment, software and operating system. The customer simply leases the physical space and high-grade, tier one network access from BSNL the hosting provider.

For New Domain name registration, customer shall obtain the domain name from authorized registry on their own till BSNL offers the service after negotiations with the authorized registry for obtaining domain names. 

Coverage 
Web co-location facility is available in all the cities where BSNL Internet node is available. The service is available in Delhi, Calcutta, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, and Ernakulam and will be extended to other cities shortly. 

How to Apply 
Customers who want to utilize this facility can register with the commercial officer in the prescribed application form and pay the charges as per tariff. Application forms can be obtained from any customer service centre or Commercial Officer of your area. 

Process Flow
  • Customer submits application to Commercial Officer.
  • Commercial Officer issues demand note after scrutiny (Checks for DNS request and Domain)
  • Customer pays the Demand node.
  • Commercial Officer releases work order to Node In-charge with a copy to DGM Data Networks.
  • Domain is created by Data Networks and communicated to node in-charge and in turn to customer.
  • Customer configures his server for IP address, domain and checks access from clients.
  • Node in-charge updates his records and completes the work order and sends to Accounts Officer.
  • Accounts Officer generates monthly bills based on the actual data transacted by the customer.

Gone are tde days when basic telephones were used only to make and receive calls. With the aid of state-of-the-art digital exchanges, BSNL offers you a host of phone plus services, converting your old basic telephones to a sophisticated tool which can be used for a variety of applications.
All the Phone Plus facilities are available free of cost with effect from January 22nd, 2003.

  Call Waiting

This facility lets you receive incoming calls even when your telephone is busy. You will get a short duration pip-pip tone when you are busy talking, indicating that another call is waiting for you , provided you have activated this facility. You can talk to any one of the callers keeping the other waiting. Complete secrecy of communication between the two callers is maintained.

Procedure for activation/deactivation:

  • Dial 118 and get the acceptance tone similar to the engage tone but with a longer gap between the beeps.
  • Dial 119 and get the acceptance tone.

  Abbreviated Dialing

You may be calling a few people very frequently. It is possible to program these numbers as abbreviated codes of 1 or 2 digits. A maximum of 20 numbers can be programmed for abbreviated dialing. It is ideal for STD/ISD.

Procedure:

Step 1Select your short codeChoose a short code for the number you dial frequently e.g. '15' for the number xxxxxx. (if it's std no. std code+xxxxxx)
Step 2Register short code for a telephone no.On your telephone dial 110 then the short code followed by the subscriber's number i.e. dial 110 15 xxxxxx.
Step 3To dial the number using abbreviated codeDial 111 then the short code to dial the number i.e dial 111 15 this will dial xxxxxx.
To cancel or re-allot the same numberDial 110 15 yyyyyy (new tel. no) this will store code 15 for new number yyyyyy overwriting the earlier no. xxxxxx.

  Hot Line

You may want to be connected directly to a pre-determined number as soon as you lift the hand set even without dialing. At the same time you may want to have the flexibility to dial any other number of your choice. It is possible to have this facility in the digital exchanges by the delayed hotline feature. The number of your choice can be programmed by the exchange staff at your request. After doing so if you lift the telephone and do not dial within 5 seconds, you will be automatically connected to the programmed number. However if you start dialing with in 5 seconds, you can make an outgoing call as usual. 

  Call Transfer (Call Forward)

Useful for very mobile persons who may not want to miss incoming calls. Using this facility Calls can be forwarded to another telephone number designated by you. 

Procedure for activation/deactivation:

  • Dial 114 followed by the telephone number for which the call is to be transferred. He will get the acceptance tone.
  • Dial 115 and wait for acceptance tone.

  Automatic Wake-Up/Reminder Call Service

When you want to be given reminder at a specific time, all you have to do is to call the exchange and leave the time you want to be reminded. The facility allows you to initiate a call automatically by the exchange at a fixed time specified by the user of the telephone. 
  • Dial 116 (the registration code) followed by the time you wish to be reminded or worken-up at 06.15am (06.15hrs), you will dial 1160615.
  • Dial 117 (the cancellation code) followed by the time you booked the call.

  Number/Call Hunting Service

If you have more than one telephone line, this facility is very helpful for your caller. If the called line is engaged, your caller does not have to disconnect and dial other line(s). This facility automatically transfers the incoming call to whichever line is free. 

  Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP)

The subscriber has to buy separately the CLIP display device from market. Using this facility you can see the number of the calling party before lifting your telephone. Very useful to trace malicious caller. However, the CLIP instrument shall be procured and installed by the users themselves. 

  Calling Line Identification (CLI) Announcement Service

Dial 164 and listen to the number of the phone line that you have used to make the call. Very useful when in doubt about your phone number. 

  Phone Bell Check

Dial 161 and after a few second replace the hand set. Your phone will ring very soon. Useful for checking functioning or adjusting volume of bell of your phone. 

  Electronic Locking For STD/ISD

For 100% protection against improper use, you can lock your telephone electronically. Here, you only know the secret code. You can lock/allow Local, STD or ISD calls in many way viz. all calls allowed, only local calls allowed, only STD & Local calls allowed, all outgoing calls barred etc. 

Register Secret CodeSuppose you want to make 5555 your secret code. Follow this procedure to register this: Dial 123 5555 5555 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Your code is registered.
Change secret codeSuppose you want to change current code 5555 to 4444 then Dial 123 5555 4444 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Your new code(4444) is registered.
Bar/Open Facilities using Secret Code(example 5555)
Bar STD/ISD callsDial 124 5555 1 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Now STD/ISD calls will be barred.
Open STD/ISD callsDial 124 5555 0 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Now STD/ISD calls can be made.
Open STD calls onlyDial 124 5555 3 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Now STD calls can be made.
Bar STD/ISD/manual trunck callsDial 124 5555 2 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Now STD/ISD/manual trunck calls will be barred . (It will also bar calls to 95 level).
Bar local callsDial 124 5555 4 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Now localcalls will be barred .(applicable only if STD Facility is available).
Open local calls onlyDial 124 5555 1 or 2 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Now Local calls can be made.
