BSNL : Frequently asked questions about the Plan " VPN over Broadband ".



Q.    1.         How much is the minimum users required ?
Ans.            Minimum users   :    5
Q.    2.         On subscription to this Plan the customer has to pay the basic business plan rate
                    of Rs. 700 or Rs. 1200 (as opted for) in addition he will pay for the VPNoBB
                    charges of Rs. 500 or Rs. 900 as per opted plan .
Ans.            VPNoBB is an Add-on Plan to Business plans.
Q.    3.         On subscription to VPNoBB, will the customer get a unique Private Static IP or
                    Public Static IP ?
Ans.           For VPNoBB, private dynamic IP will be used. This will be assigned on the
                   dynamic basis. Static IP is available in certain business plans.
Q.    4.         Will the customer get internet connectivity also ?   How will internet tariff be
                    routed over such connections ?    Will it be provided through Natting ?
Ans.           The customer can access Internet service using the same DSL connection.  For
                    this , Public IP address will be assigned dynamically.
                    At any instant, customer can access either VPN or Internet not both.
Q.    5.         For VPNoBB between two locations e.g. in Nashik and Pune, will the contention
                     ratio be applicable ?   If yes,  on which segment of the network will this              
                     contention  ratio be applied ?
Ans.           Yes, the VPNoBB involves a contention ratio of around 1:30.  Contention will apply
                   between DSLAM and PE Router.   PE to PE connectivity will be without any

                   contention.
Q.    6.        Will the VPNoBB of BSNL be integrated with VPNoBB of BSNL be integrated with
                   VPNoBB with Triband Broadband VPN of MTNL.   In effect, if officers in Mumbai,
                   Delhi and Bangalore and Nashik are to be connected over Broadband VPN how
                   will these be connected ?
Ans.          No, presently, there is no integration of BSNL and MTNL network for customers
                  seeking VPN connectivity at Delhi and Mumbai. They have to opt for other Leased
                   line MPLS or dial up VPN.
